Marjie A. was a treasure and fixture in our neighborhood, having been our newsletter editor after retiring as a successful Dallas journalists and travel author. She had transitioned into the primary neighborhood pet caretaker after the newsletter editing became more overwhelming and digitally oriented. But as she aged her cognition and memory function declined. Her pet sitting business suffered. She lost the privilege of driving. With no family living close by, Sarah of New Leaf helped Marjie weekly with banking, light errands, grocery shopping and property management. When she no longer could manage care for herself and beloved dog, New Leaf helped her family successfully transition Marjie and her dog to a memory care facility in Texarkana where the bulk of her family and some childhood friends resided.
